The nurse manager role is critical to the overall success of health care organizations. However, the demands associated with this position often contribute to significant stress, fatigue, and burnout. Persistent workplace stressors can adversely affect the physical, mental, and emotional well being of health care professionals. Findings from this 8 week, on demand, worksite virtual reality mindfulness based intervention demonstrated reductions in self reported perceived stress and burnout, along with an increase in resilience and work engagement. These results indicate that virtual reality–based mindfulness sessions are an effective, feasible, and convenient support strategy for nurse managers.
