Last Tuesday, the school buses rolled by my windows, the days are getting shorter, the pool at my complex is “lonely”, all these observations remind me that we are close to autumn and our annual conference.
Our planning committee continues to work on preparations for ALSN’s Annual Conference. The conference is being held at the beautiful Luskin Conference Center in Los Angeles. We ae excited about our keynote speakers, Dr. Karen Grimley will kick us off as our first day keynote. Dr. Orianna Beaudet will share with us her thoughts on innovation and collaboration for our second morning keynote. The last morning keynote will be an update on the collaborative breakfast held during our 2025 annual conference.
We are fortunate to have TWO tracks offered for our pre-conference this year and will be held on Wednesday, September 30. Dr. Stephanie Justice and Gigi Poirier from VR Intulect will present Immersive Learning: Virtual Reality in Nursing Education, a hands-on workshop utilizing virtual reality headsets. The second track includes Dr. Maria Shirey, and her colleagues, Connie White-Williams and Michele H. Talley will present Leading Academic-Practice Partnerships Across the Healthcare Continuum: Art and Science - A workshop designed to give participants experience with academic-service partnerships through exemplars and their outcomes.
Professional Development committee is providing fantastic webinar on October 6th, 1 – 2p, EST, in which we’ll host our next collaborative project with Nurses on Boards Coalition. This webinar will be based on the work from Jackie Medland, Ph.D., R.N., NEA-BC, and Marti Moore, MAOM, RN, CPHQ, published in their book, “The Leadership Sandwich”.
I’m looking forward to seeing many of you in Los Angeles at the end of September!
