DESCRIPTION
Precision Health (PH), often associated within Precision Medicine (PM), is defined as the emerging approach for disease treatment and prevention that takes into account individual variability in genes, environment, and lifestyle for each person (National Institute of Health, 2020). This one-hour overview of “The Precision Phenomenon” examines the intersection of emerging trends in “omics”, technology, financial incentives and health policy which create truly customized care. These advances are showcased through exemplars from Nursing Education and Nursing Research. The author’s gubernatorial appointment as Advisor to the California Initiative to Advance Precision Medicine (CIAPM) will serve as the foundation for discussing future directions in this field.
