The purpose of this presentation is to create an understanding of the specific stressors nurse executives experience. Practical solutions for preserving nurse executive mental health will be offered.
LEARNER OBJECTIVES
Identify the elements that define health care organizations as detrimental to mental well-being. Recognize situations that cause nurse executive anxiety and stress. Discuss pre-existing conditions that cause mental disequilibrium. Consider the relationship between perfectionism and high functioning anxiety. Confront the fears fueled by stereotypes & unconscious biases. Realize that stigma limits research necessary for improving leadership mental health. Differentiate between self-care & next-level self care. Cultivate practical solutions to preserving nurse executive mental health.

PRESENTER
Angela S. Prestia, PhD, RN, NE-BC , Nurse Leader/Educator
Angela has been a nursing professional for over 45 years. She began her educational journey as an associate degree nurse, obtained a Bachelor’s in nursing at the University of West Florida, a Master’s degree in nursing from Vanderbilt University and a PhD in nursing from Florida Atlantic University. She holds a Certificate in Healthcare Administration and is Board Certified as a Nurse Executive. She has an advanced yellow belt in Lean Six Sigma change management methodologies. The majority of her career was in the acute care arena, serving in various nursing leadership roles. Most notably she was the Administrative Director of Quality Care and held 2 Chief Nursing Officer positions. She is currently President of The Association for Leadership Science in Nursing (ALSN). Her scholarship has led her to research, present and publish on the subject of Nursing Leadership.
