Learner Objectives
Understand the role of diverse teams to create innovative solutions to health care’s complex challenges. The “multi-verse” will be introduced as a term to describe the depth and breadth of diversity. Unconscious bias will be explored. The “Humbleness” framework will be introduced as a guide for leadership self-reflections to combat unconscious bias. Operational strategies will be offered to improve diversity in health care organizations.

Angela Prestia, PhD, RN, NE-BC; Florida Atlantic University, Director of Patient Care, Professor College of Nursing
Dr. Angela Prestia has devoted her professional nursing career to leadership. Her life’s work, grounded in experience, has resulted in mentorship, research, and authorship of over 50 articles. She is currently faculty at Florida Atlantic and Case Western Reserve Universities. She holds a PhD from Florida Atlantic University, an MSN from Vanderbilt University, a BSN from The University of West Florida, and is an ANCC board certified nurse executive. Her nursing leadership career was in practice. She spent over 16 years working as a CNO at 2 different facilities. Prior to that she worked as the Administrative Director of Clinical Quality. The safety and well-being of patients and staff were always her priority. She currently serves as President for The Association of Leadership Science in Nursing.(ALSN).
