It is that time of year again! What a great opportunity to get engaged in this awesome organization! ALSN is a perfect conduit for nurturing relationships and using your leadership expertise. Consider submitting your nomination today!

The Call for Nominations will be for the following Board and Committee positions:

ALSN Board of Directors:

  • President Elect - 4 year term; 1 year as President-Elect, 2 years as President, 1 year as Past President; January 2026 - December 2029
  • Vice President of Membership and Succession - 2 year term; January 2026 - December 2027
  • Treasurer - 2 year term; January 2026 - December 2027
ALSN Leadership Succession Planning Committee:
  • 2 vacancies; January 2026 - December 2027

Positions & Responsibilities

The President-Elect shall:

  • Perform the duties of the President in the absence of that officer.
  • Complete the unexpired term of the President in cases where the President is unable to fulfill the duties of the office in even years.
  • Partner with the President and/or Past President to monitor initiatives involving members and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure a smooth transition between on-coming and off-going elected and appointed officers in even years.
  • Serve as a non-voting member.

The President shall:

  • Preside as the executive officer and administer all ALSN business not provided for in the Bylaws.
  • Appoint officers for vacated offices until the next election, with ALSN Board approval.
  • Prepare the ALSN annual report.
  • Appoint ad hoc committees, as needed, to address the organization’s needs.
  • Coordinate and monitor all major initiatives involving external stakeholders in collaboration with the Past President and/or President Elect.

The Past President shall:

  • Coordinate and monitor all major initiatives involving external stakeholders in collaboration with the President.
  • Complete the unexpired term of the President in cases where the President is unable to fulfill the duties of the office in odd years.
  • Ensure a smooth transition between on-coming and off-going elected and appointed officers in odd years.
  • Serve on the internal audit committee.
  • Serve as a non-voting member.

The Treasurer shall:

  • Serve as Chair of the Finance Committee.
  • Perform all fiduciary duties.
  • Prepare draft annual budget for Board action.
  • Arrange for an internal or external financial audit every two years. The ALSN Board will conduct an internal audit followed by an external audit two years later.
  • Prepare and submit Treasurer’s report to the membership at its annual meeting.
  • Provide financial updates at ALSN Board meetings.
  • Lead the efforts of the Finance Committee to ensure fiscal accountability and prudent business practices.
  • Ensure Finance Committee membership includes the Treasurer (Chair), Management Company representative(s) as non-voting members, the President as an ex-officio voting member, the VP of Programs as a voting member, and 3 ALSN members appointed by the Board with voting privileges.

The Succession Planning Committee Member shall:

  1. Create a list of leadership positions that are due for election.
  2. Contacts members individually for nominations, attempting to recruit at least 2 candidates for each open position.
  3. Assists in coordinating the submission of nominations, creation of the ballot and notification of voting results.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Nominees must be active ALSN members for a minimum of 1 year.
  • Nominees must hold a graduate degree in nursing/related field.
